WNB is on point! You could plow around on a 14, but a well fitting 18-19 will fly! Additionally, a tiller allows you to stay on course without dragging a foot, hand or J-Stroking---ergonomically it's a more symmetrical workout. I bought my first UL used from the Eaton site from a paddler that was close to my height and weight. Also, as WNB mentioned, the shapers, such as Craig Richmond and Joe Bark, often know of used boards...

Fellow paddlers , Some kook stole my 14 foot, white bottom blue top Lahui Kai orca model, Hollow tech. I Live in Santa Cruz. No one up here has that board. It does have some specific things I can identify. If you see this board out in the water, check it out. Im sure whoever stole it will not be a paddeler. but will sell it real cheap. I will offer a solid reward for it, Thanks and happy Easter paddeling.

I’m pretty sure that was the Moonlight Classic Paddleboard Race on Sept. 14, 2002. There were 50-60 paddlers and the organizers gave out a different colored rash guard for each class.
Richmond was a sponsor and the race is still going on as part of the Encinitas Sports Festival, but without the handicaps, so there should be ways to find more info.

We've had a very warm fall! Water as I write is hanging at 56f, BUT the air temp is dropping fast. I paddled today and the air was hovering in the low 40's. Once the lows start sweeping off the NE the Gulf Stream will get pushed down, and the water crashes to 38-42f by the end of december! That's when I play snow bird and head for the tropics for some surfing.

If were paddling rough water a lot on a UL, I might take that middle fin off, eliminate the stationary fin in front of the rudder, and put a eliptical fin on there.

Either that or switch to a 16 or 17 that's wider and flatter on the bottom...

Ed Barbosa has a great selection of Water Bottle Brackets and VENTED Water Bottle Caps! Also, be sure to buy the Camel Bak Tubing with a Bit Valve Mouth Piece.

The Camel Bak tubing has a funky little white fitting on the end opposite of the mouth piece--cut that thing off. Next, Pull The MOUTH Piece OFF THE Vented Cap, and shove the Blue Camel Bak hose down the throat of the cap.

My older computer looks to have crashed that contains the Eaton site and its software. I have it backed up on my external drive and my new computer, but it runs on old software. I don't consider myself a racer, but the races I follow, such as the Catalina and Molokai do not allow gloves. As a transplant to the Mid-Atlantic, out of necessity, I wear 1-1.5 ml gloves beginning in November or December and into April. I'd rather not wear 'em at all.
